i was doing some chores in the garden when i realized that a creature had taken up housing in the foliage of one of my miniature trees, a bougianvillea
this mighty beast, some sort of spider, is of small stature but great presence
and it has built an impressive web, one might describe it as marvel of engineering
and it is very succesful in its endeavors, killing many an insect
one does not stumble into the web of such a creature and emerge unscathed
now, while i was deciding whether i wanted to prune some of the leaves, i noticed that this beast of an arachnid was being bothered by another creature, a flying, one might describe as a fly
a most unremarkable animal, as flies tend to be, yet bold beyond all reason
and i decided to watch a little
this pest of an insect bothered that mighty creature for the better part on an hour, darting and hovering around with a persistence that was almost admirable
surely because many of its brethren had fallen prey to the mighty beast before it
the spider did not give way
it protected its domicile with great vigor and without fail
nature sure is beautiful
