No, that's not really accurate. US Soccer players come up through youth academies, college soccer, and MLS or overseas club systems, not from failing to make NFL rosters, since soccer and football have almost entirely separate development pipelines and require very different skill sets from a young age. There have been rare crossover athletes historically who dabbled in both sports, but the current USMNT is stocked with guys who've played club soccer since childhood, many now in top European leagues like the Premier League and Bundesliga, so calling them NFL rejects doesn't hold up.
